The professors had been pushing the boundaries of discovery through research into the language of elements, but Atreya’s experimental spirit had gone rogue, unleashing elemental forces into the river and sparking total pandemonium.

Firepower, Elementals, and High-Caliber Chaos
Mad Matt, a man who believes any dispute can be settled with enough heavy ordinance, decided that the river simply required more firepower. He unleashed a rapid-fire volley of rounds into the depths, which immediately summoned both a Fire Elemental and a Water Elemental! These massive entities burst from the river like a sudden invasion, beginning their reign of terror across the campus. Matt charged headlong into the fray, attempting to settle the score with his sword, but the intense heat pushed him back before he could land a decisive blow. Mabel, demonstrating her rugged resolve, fired an enchanted crossbow bolt straight into the Flame Elemental’s core, dragging it toward her - though she certainly felt the sting of its fiery wrath. Ace, adopting the tactical high-ground approach favored by any true frontiersman, scaled a nearby building and leaped onto the Water Elemental, piercing it with his electrified rapier. The strike punched a donut-shaped hole through the elemental, but the beast refused to surrender its territory. Meanwhile, Professor Hisashi showed how to harness the river’s raw power with precision, grabbing a handful of water that transformed into a bolt of lightning launched straight at the Fire Elemental. Combined with the icy munitions thrown by Professor Atreya, the Fire Elemental was finally neutralized. Ace landed a final, decisive strike on the Water Elemental, bringing it down as well. Despite their valiant efforts, Hisashi’s attempts to negotiate with the elementals' cores using their native tongue were met with silence, leaving the professors stumped. Professor Atreya then invited the party into the alchemy auditorium, attempting to restore order to the river using the elemental cores, but two cores simply weren't enough to reclaim the frontier from chaos.

Round Two: The Rise of Stone and Wind
Just when the party thought they had secured their liberty from the elements, two more titans - Stone and Wind - erupted from the volatile waters. Hisashi and Atreya advised the adventurers that they could safely harness the river’s elemental water if they utilized protective gloves; armed with this newfound liquid arsenal, the party charged into battle. Mad Matt, ever quick to take action, snatched a handful of ice from the river and hurled it at the Stone Elemental with pure grit. Mabel followed up with a fiery mass that exploded on impact, chipping away at the creature’s defenses. Meanwhile, Ace perched himself strategically atop the alchemy building, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. As the Stone Elemental unleashed a powerful earthquake, Mad Matt narrowly avoided disaster with a daring leap, but Peanut Butter, Mabel’s trusty mechanic Owlbear, wasn’t so lucky. The Stone Elemental was weakened but retaliated fiercely, launching projectiles at Mabel, bolstered by a sudden gust from the Wind Elemental.

Close Calls and Final Blows
While Mad Matt ducked into a nearby bush to evade the onslaught, Ace delivered a crushing blow with his balestrina, taking down the Stone Elemental once and for all. However, the Wind Elemental, fast and fierce, charged through Mabel and sent Peanut Butter flying straight into the river. In a terrifying turn of events, the water transformed into molten lava as the Owlbear began to sink! Fueled by pure fury, Mabel grabbed a handful of lava and hurled it at the Wind Elemental, while Mad Matt, emboldened by his Longsword of the Deep, emerged from cover to finish the fight. As Peanut Butter struggled to pull himself from the searing heat, the Wind Elemental sent him crashing into a wall. In one final, daring feat of individual heroism, Ace leaped onto the Wind Elemental and impaled its core with his electrified rapier, bringing an end to the skirmish.

A Breakthrough Discovery
With the elementals defeated, the party delivered the cores to Professors Hisashi and Atreya, who finally managed to restore the river to its rightful state. In a gesture of profound gratitude, Professor Hisashi taught Mad Matt how to fully master Ancient Deep Speech. This newfound knowledge allowed the party to confirm a crucial secret from a book Matt had been carrying: the Marid were not enemies to be feared, but potential allies with vast knowledge of the deep-sea frontiers. Even more significant was the translation of the map. The map, recovered during their clash with the zombies in the Marid city, revealed the location of Manamea, a destination they had been hunting since the dawn of their adventure. Situated between Flame Island and Arcachon, Manamea’s secrets were now nearly within reach - provided they can overcome the powerful ocean currents around Flame Island that even the most rugged rowers cannot conquer. After exchanging contact info with the professors, the party returned to their ship, ready for the next leg of their journey. Yufene University may have found peace, but the adventurers’ quest is only just heating up.
