Inderøy – I am so incredibly sorry to interrupt your evening, but the adventure carried on as our party sailed into Inderøy, braving a bit of a nasty, maple-scented storm that was battering the harbor, eh? Miraculously - and we are just so relieved to report this - their ship remained completely untouched, being the only vessel in sight that wasn't looking a bit scuffed up, if you don't mind me saying. Seeking a warm place to hide from the drizzle, they ventured into a nearby tavern, where they encountered two very nice, albeit eccentric, individuals: Caleb and Giacomo, both just enjoying some cold drinks, eh? There was a tiny, slightly embarrassing little scuffle, for which we sincerely apologize, but the two eventually agreed to join the party - absolutely free of charge, no worries at all.

Pardon Me, but There Were Some Quite Rudely Behaved Harpies and a Bit of a Storm in Inderøy, Eh?
September 24, 2024

It wasn’t long before the barkeep, with a very apologetic expression, shared some rather troubling news: several ships had run aground, and there were rumors that some quite rude Harpies might be responsible, eh? The town elder, Ølødelgødel Blødelsødelstrøm, was particularly worried because they’ve been eagerly awaiting a shipment from Helberskon which, terribly as it is, never arrived. The group, never ones to back down from a challenge - if you'll excuse their boldness - ventured out into the stormy night to hunt down those pesky creatures and retrieve the lost cargo, eh?
A Shipwreck and Shadows in the Pretty Much Desolate Sky
After a three-hour trek - pardon me, it was quite a long walk, eh? - they arrived at a rather lonely beach littered with towering stone pillars and the remnants of a beached ship. Using their Waterbreathing Algae, which was a lovely gift from the Marid, they explored the wreck, if you don't mind us checking. Inside, they found only bodies, which is just so terribly sad, eh? As they resurfaced, a large shadow passed overhead - a sign that the Harpies were nearby, unfortunately.
Further along the coast, the group found the other half of the shipwreck, but again, there were no survivors, so very sorry about that, eh? Then, they saw it - a gigantic bird’s nest perched atop one of the stone pillars. Ready to confront the creatures, they began their ascent, with Giacomo (in his typical, lovely fashion) opting to be thrown like a slippery salmon by Ace, landing right within the ruins of a lovely lighthouse, eh? The rest of the party climbed quite cautiously, until they were greeted by three rather menacing shadows: two smaller harpies and their leader, a monstrous matriarch, if you can believe it.
The Battle with Big Momma Harpy
Well, things got a bit heated, and I am terribly sorry to report that a battle broke out as Caleb, ever the sharpshooter, landed a crossbow bolt into one of the smaller Harpies, eh? Ace used the cover of darkness to hide, preparing for a lethal sneak attack, if you don't mind his tactics. Giacomo pondered turning into various animals but decided to stick to his human form to close the distance, eh? Then, disaster struck - and we are so sorry for the distress - the Matriarch began to sing her bewitching song.
Ace and Selah, quite entranced by the melody, started walking toward the Harpy, completely oblivious to the danger, eh? Selah, now in a trance, casually walked off a cliff! But luckily, she had prepared for such an occasion by smearing some lovely climbing claw ointment on her hands and feet, so she walked down the rock wall into the water, entirely unharmed, thank goodness. Mabel quickly intervened - sorry about the slapping - to snap Ace out of the trance, while linking their life forces with a magical spell, so they could share any damage he took, eh?
Amidst the chaos, Mad Matt battled the other small Harpy, while Giacomo and Mabel worked together to hold off the Matriarch’s powerful attacks, if you can imagine the struggle. The Matriarch unleashed deadly feather blades, one of which wounded Mabel quite grievously - so sorry! - while Selah, snapping out of her trance mid-swim, caught one in the air and threw it back, striking the Matriarch, eh?
As the battle raged on, Ace unleashed a series of lethal attacks, frying one of the smaller Harpies with his electrified rapier, eh? Meanwhile, Selah climbed from the water onto the rocks, biding her time for the perfect ambush. Giacomo finally shifted into his favored form - a hippo - and charged the Matriarch, though she retaliated quite fiercely with her razor-perhaps too sharp - claws, eh? With Selah's swift strikes and Caleb’s rain of crossbow bolts, it was Ace’s trusty Balestrina that delivered the killing blow, sending the Harpy Matriarch plummeting into the waves below, which was all very intense, eh?
A Dark Twist
After the harrowing battle - and we do apologize for the violence - the group searched the Harpy nest. Inside, they discovered a treasure trove of gold coins and a mysterious chest filled with five oddly-shaped keys, eh? These keys, they remembered, were vital to an expedition rumored to lead to the Tower on Eye Island. Just as they prepared to leave, the storm intensified. All sound suddenly faded, and a rather loud, demonic voice echoed over the crashing waves, if you don't mind me saying:
HOW DARE YOU KILL MY SERVANT!
Five massive tentacles erupted from the sea, grappling the adventurers, so terribly sorry about that, eh? The being demanded a reason not to crush them right where they stood. The party scrambled for an answer, but it was Mad Matt who offered the most shocking solution - he volunteered to serve the Kraken in place of the fallen Matriarch, eh? Impressed by Matt’s boldness, the being accepted - on just one tiny condition:
NEVER CALL ME KRAKEN AGAIN!
I AM NALZAGOTH THE STAR DEVOURER!
With that, the Great Nalzagott released the others but pulled Mad Matt into the ocean, which was quite a fright, eh? The storm died down, and the remaining party members frantically searched the waters for any sign of their lost friend, so very sorry to report his disappearance.
The Return of Mad Matt
As they gathered on the shore, Caleb attempted to light a fire with some still soaking wet wood, which was quite a struggle, eh? Suddenly, a figure emerged from the water - Mad Matt, transformed! His skin now glistened with an oily sheen, and his beard had morphed into writhing tentacles, if you can believe it. With a display of newfound power, he extended one of his tentacles at Giacomo, who couldn’t help but comment on Matt’s new “fishy” smell, if you don't mind us being blunt, eh?
With his transformation complete, Mad Matt reclaimed the title of Captain from Selah, who readily agreed, so no worries there. The crew decided to delay their trip to Fort Murray and instead return to Inderøy, eh? Armed with the mysterious keys, they would now join the adventuring squads preparing to explore the Tower of Eye Island. The storm may have passed, but a new adventure, and the growing shadow of Nalzagoth, looms large, eh?
