A Bit of a Rough Time with a Demon and a Rather Unfortunate End for the Wizard: The Battle at the Cathedral, eh?

August 13, 2024

Emberglow Forest — So sorry to interrupt the peace, but as the group was taking just a tiny little breather to recover from that rather bumpy fight with the Minotaur Skeleton and try to patch up Mad Matt's wounds (so sorry about those!), a small lady arrived, riding a mechanical Owlbear. She introduced herself as Mabel - bless her heart - and we were awfully glad to have her, eh? She revealed she can mend metal, wood, and even little boo-boos. Tiyana, meanwhile, was just tinkering with the seal on the cathedral door - sorry for the bother - and managed to undo it. The door swung open quite ominously, and the crew cautiously made their way inside, if you don't mind us saying.

A Bit of a Spooky Discovery and a Rather Unfortunate Ritual
As we were cautiously looking around - pardon our intrusion! - the party found the water well by the altar, but not before Tiyana and Ace found two lovely spell scrolls. We're awfully sorry to report that their investigation was cut short by the wizard Zefiri, who had a rather bad idea: summoning the demon Dralvos from the Infinite Layers of the Abyss using the village’s well. Despite our best, most polite efforts to stop him, the ritual went through anyway, bringing forth this big, scary demon with one eye and some rather pointy horns, eh?

A Rather Intense Skirmish Against Dralvos
As things got a bit heated, Selah climbed the cathedral walls - so much effort, sorry! - and found her way onto an angelic statue. With some lovely agility, she swung from a chandelier and gave Zefiri's head a little tap, eh? Meanwhile, poor Mad Matt fell to his knees, desperately trying to be friends with Dralvos in exchange for power. The demon wasn't having it, though - so rude! Seizing the moment (if I may), Ace darted out from cover and skillfully swiped the wizard’s magic book from the altar. Tiyana, peeking from behind a bookshelf - sorry about that! - unleelyashed a Fireball from a recently acquired scroll, sending blue flames flying toward both Zefiri and Dralvos. Oh dear, Mad Matt was caught in the middle - so sorry about the crossfire! As Dralvos swung a vicious claw, Matt went down, unconscious, eh? Acting quickly, Deva covered the well with a carpet of vines to prevent any more uninvited guests from popping up and even trapped Dralvos for a moment. Mabel, never one to stay idle, tossed a nearby book toward the ensnared demon - a real heavy hitter, eh? Selah, now facing the demon, targeted Dralvos' single eye with her frosty Nunchaku, chilling his face up a bit before some quick punches left him quite weakened.

A Victory, Though Things Got a Bit Scorched
As Dralvos was looking a bit worn out, Zefiri released him, so now he's roaming around the material plane - so sorry about the inconvenience! All while Mad Matt was having a rather rough time, Deva and Tiyana launched a very polite rescue to pull him to safety, while Mabel’s little robot spider stitched his wounds up, eh? Finally, thanks to a lovely illusion by Selah that distracted Zefiri, Ace had the chance to deliver a fatal blow to the wizard. With the spell broken, the well vanished from the cathedral, which was unfortunately quite on fire. The crew barely made it out with their lives - and a few shiny gems, if you don't mind us mentioning!

A Red Return and a New Adventure Ahead
Coming back to the village, we were welcomed as heroes - pardon us, but it was quite nice! The well had returned but stayed a rather alarming blood-red, which is a bit of a shame. Tiyana reassured everyone that it would be fine in a few days, eh? As promised, there was a lovely feast and we got Florian and Maximilian to help with the rowing. Our ship, all patched up with a grand new sail, headed through the currents toward the Marid territory, ready for whatever comes next, eh?

A little sneak peek at the new sail made by our lovely Emberglow Artisans, eh?

As requested - so sorry for the delay! - the finest artists and seamstresses from Emberglow Village worked together to create this pattern, consisting of a horse with flaming hair, armored with cannons, ridden by Selah the monk through a lush, green forest, eh?
