In those chilly waters between Port Elgin and Goldenbank - After a bit of a struggle escaping the chaos in Port Elgin (so sorry for the trouble, eh?), our heroes found themselves thrust into another rather perilous adventure. Setting sail aboard that commandeered ship - the one bearing the golden star and red banner of Allison & Son's Trading Company, if you don't mind me saying - the crew was just determined to reach Goldenbank to seek some answers from Lady Levine about that mysterious Flux substance, eh?

A Bit of a Rough Patch on the High Seas: Our Heroes’ Sorry Escape from Port Elgin Leads to an Unfortunate Goblin Scuffle, Eh?
June 18, 2024

However, fate had other plans, and I am so terribly sorry to report it.
A Hidden Stowaway and a New Ally
While poking around their new vessel - pardon me for snooping, eh? - the crew found signs of previous occupants on the lower deck: some hammocks that looked quite cozy, like a good flannel blanket, recently used by Justíne and Justìne, alongside a little book titled "How to Be the Best Guard." In the cargo hold, amidst mostly empty crates (sorry to say they were a bit sparse), Wilma noticed one shaking just a tiny bit. Opening it, she revealed Turquesa, a pointy-hatted wood elf wizard on a quest for gemstones, who had hidden aboard during all that Port Elgin ruckus. Recognizing her value, the crew welcomed Turquesa into their ranks, eh?
Goblin Treachery at Sea
Their journey was soon interrupted by a rather rude sea outpost. Goblin chief Backwater demanded half their cargo under threat of sinking the ship - how impolite, eh? Forced to comply (so sorry about that), the crew devised a bit of a cunning little plan. Sonia and Wilma stucky all the plates and silverware from the ship into boxes and carried them onto the outpost, just like packing for a long winter trip. Disguised as a goblin, Cecilie hid within the crates and infiltrated the outpost from within. Her disguise fooled everyone, as she looked quite similar to Knifey McFingers, a goblin of the troupe who happened to oversleep that day... so sorry for his late arrival! She joined a cannon crew plotting a mutiny against Backwater, setting the stage for a bit of a betrayal, eh? Backwater was not impressed by silverware and gave the order to fire when Sonia and Wilma tricked two goblins into coming back to their ship.
Deception and Betrayal
Cannon fire erupted in the ensuing battle as chaos engulfed the ship and outpost - pardon me for the loud noise! Wilma, in a rather large giant badger form, grappled with Backwater while Sonia targeted the cannon crews with her Greatbow. Cecilie and her new goblin ally Bendigo turned cannons against Backwater, gravely injuring him. Wilma bit off Backwater's head (so sorry, that was quite messy, eh?) and Cecilie used her magical lute to put the remaining goblins to sleep. She used her uncanny charm to convince Bendigo to abandon his life of crime and join her in sailing the entire triangle - but she promptly made him a bit too tipsy when they were toasting wine to their victory, eh? The dizzy Bendigo stumbled back to his tent, seemingly having forgotten all about their lovely plan together.
Loot and Departure
After the victory, the crew assessed what they had left: barrels of ale, wine, and enough pork for a proper supper, and a mystical ocean-blue longsword. They disposed of the bodies (my apologies for the unpleasantness) and seized a cannon and plank from the outpost before quickly hoisting the anchor. With a new ally, some valuable loot, and a renewed sense of purpose, our heroes continue their journey towards Goldenbank. What challenges await them in that bustling city, eh? Stay tuned for the next entry in their grand tale, exclusively here in the Fireball Gazette!
Love Amidst the Chaos: The Tale of Bendigo and Knifey
In the aftermath of battle, two unlikely hearts find their true course - by our very polite Senior Reporter and Avid Romance Geek, Vivian Silverquill ♡
As dawn broke over the frosty goblin outpost - sorry about the cold! - Bendigo awoke with a throbbing head and a heart full of longing. Memories of the previous day’s mutiny were a bit hazy, but one image remained as clear as a frozen lake: Knifey McFingers. Bendigo had always harbored a secret affection for her, admiring her fiery spirit and those lovely locks. The day before, in the middle of all that chaos, Knifey had spoken to him about leaving their life of crime and sailing the world together, eh? Now, as he rose from his tent, he found the outpost almost deserted. Sparkmack and Meek the Second were the only other survivors, their faces etched with the bitterness of defeat, so sorry for them.
Stepping outside, Bendigo’s heart skipped a beat when he saw Knifey. She was sitting by the remnants of their last campfire, her hair shimmering in the morning light. For a moment, he doubted his memory, but her familiar mischievous grin reassured him, eh? He approached her, his heart pounding like a drum.
"Knifty," he said softly, "I... I had the most incredible dream last night. We talked about leaving this life behind, sailing away together. I still want that. I want us to be free, eh?"
Knifey looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with a mix of surprise and joy. She had always been quite fond of Bendigo, admiring his loyalty and his knack for finding humor even in the frostiest situations. She shared his penchant for drinking and oversleeping - traits that had often gotten them into a bit of a pickle, but had also forged a bond between them, eh?
"Bendigo," she whispered, "I’ve always felt the same way. Let’s do it. Let’s leave this place and start anew."
They spent the day planning their escape, sharing stolen glances and whispered dreams. As night fell, they prepared the outpost’s lifeboat, packing it with supplies and their few treasured belongings - just like getting ready for a long trek through the woods, eh? With Sparkmack and Meek the Second fast asleep, they silently pushed the boat into the water.
As they sailed into the moonlit sea, Bendigo couldn’t help but admire Knifey’s determination and beauty. Her hair flowed like a dark river, and her eyes shone with excitement. He reached for her hand, feeling a warmth that dispelled even the deepest winter chill, eh?
"To us," he said, raising a flask of wine they had taken for the journey.
"To us," she echoed, clinking her flask against his. They drank deeply, the wine fueling their courage and solidifying their resolve, eh?
Together, they sailed into the unknown, hearts full of hope and the promise of new adventures. Bendigo knew that with Knifey by his side, the future held endless possibilities. They had escaped the shadows of their past and were now free to write their own story, one filled with love, laughter, and the endless horizon of the open sea… eh?
